A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N) prepares students to be clinicians, educators, leaders innovators, and scientists.
The four-year BSN traditional nursing degree and curriculum is offered to new undergraduate students at three of IU’s campuses: IU Bloomington, IU Fort Wayne, and IU Indianapolis. Although nursing courses are offered on each campus, they may be required in a different sequence or in a different semester than that required by the other two campuses.
The traditional track is for students pursuing their first baccalaureate degree. This curriculum prepares you for a career as a professional nurse. You will study current trends in healthcare and participate in exceptional clinical opportunities, including interprofessional education (learning alongside students from other health schools and programs) and state-of-the-art simulation.
Application to the BSN at IU Bloomington requires a minimum of one year of prerequisite nursing and general education coursework. At Bloomington, this coursework involves: sociology, psychology, physiology, anatomy, mathematics, and English composition. Admission is highly selective based on grades. For those admitted to the program, three additional years of nursing core courses and remaining general education coursework are required.
