Whether your goal is to create games to entertain, to teach or to help society understand the world’s problems, the B.S. in Game Design through the IU Media School will give you a well-rounded base on which to build your future career. Emphasizing both technical and creative aspects of game design, the program will teach you how to transform your ideas into a compelling virtual reality as part of the next generation of video game creators.
Students in the major will learn the basics of game design by studying game production, concepts, art and sound, game theory and system strategies, progressive design and production, and how to develop, produce and publicize a finished game that you’ve helped create as part of a team. Students will get the opportunity to work alongside faculty to create out-of-this-world programs and engage in the student community. Along with the genius skills students will develop, the possible careers after graduating with the B.S. in Game Design include animation, programming, software development, sound design, project management, game design, and game artist.
Students with interests in game-programming, graphic design, animation, or music composition & sound production for multi-media will be able to use elective courses from the School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, the School of Art, Architecture, + Design, and the Jacobs School of Music toward their degree.
